Nokia Corp. is suing two Chinese companies for producing mobile phones that allegedly copy the design of a popular Nokia handset.

The worlds largest cell phone manufacturer wants a court in Beijing to order the companies to pay damages and cease making and selling the phones. The court accepted the lawsuit June 12.

Nokia named the two companies as Shenzhen Telsda Mobile Communication Industry Developing Co. Ltd. and Song Xun Da Zhong Ke Electronic (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. It also named two co-defendants as distributors.
Nokia said the allegedly copied handset was the Nokia 7260, a phone it unveiled in Shanghai in 2004 as part of a collection inspired by 1920s styling. The 7260 features tri-band capabilities and a camera.

Last year, China became Nokias largest market, overtaking the United States, with sales growing 28 percent to $4 billion.
